Pat Popovich was a beloved founding member of the Lone Star Curling Club who unexpectedly passed in 2024.

Pat was dedicated to introducing curling to as many people as possible and fostering new curlers in their curling journey. She was instrumental in the beginning of LSCC and its continued success, serving on the board for many years, helping bring several Olympians and prominent curlers to our bonspiels, being the "face" of the club in many news stories and publicity, teaching many of our learn to curls, enthusiastically welcoming new curlers, and was always a friendly face on Sunday mornings.

Thanks to Pat's generosity, LSCC was able to establish a scholarship fund to assist our members in their curling growth.

This first year, $1,000 will be awarded to current members of the Lone Star Curling Club. $500 is available to be awarded September-February and $500 is available March-August.

Funds will be awarded for:

• Bonspiel entry fees (up to $150/Member)
  • can be requested for an undetermined bonspiel that year
• Curling equipment (up to $100/Member)
  • shoes, brooms, or other equipment to aid in curling performance

Funds can be awarded to each member only once per year and will be paid out upon receipt of a proof of expenditure.

All current club members are eligible for funds. The Awards committee will assess the applications and award the scholarships.
